Corey Severin

Candidate for Councillor

Background

Corey Severin is a Kelowna small business owner and the proprietor of Kelowna Sea-Doo Rentals, a premium Sea-Doo and jet-ski rental operation on Lake Okanagan. He describes his background as including "extensive knowledge and experience in environmental protection, along with a background supervising large-scale construction and energy projects throughout Western Canada."

Severin has no prior Kelowna campaign-finance disclosure on file (2014–2022) and no previous elective office in Kelowna identified. (Elections BC / internal FRPC sweep, 2026-09-13)

His LinkedIn profile lists him as an "Experienced Field Technician" in the environmental sector, with education from St. Lawrence College (2004–2006).

2026 Campaign

Severin is running as part of the BRACE for Change ("Businesses and Residents Against Crime Everywhere") coalition, a four-candidate Kelowna council slate that also includes Humberto Morales, JC Rathwell, and Rob Wilkinson.

His campaign platform is organized around four pillars: Safer Streets, Real Accountability, Stronger Small Business, and Fiscal Transparency. Policy positions include pushing for "data-driven policing that targets the drivers of crime," supporting "real enforcement and repeat-offender accountability," calling for transparent councillor voting records, and measuring "social ROI" on homelessness spending.

His candidate statement: "Corey is running for Kelowna City Council to bring a practical, results-focused approach to City Hall: understand the facts, listen to the community, spend responsibly, and make decisions that deliver the greatest benefit to Kelowna as a whole."

In 2025, Severin was quoted in the Williams Lake Tribune as a member of the newly formed Kelowna Marine Tourism Association (KMTA), opposing City of Kelowna commercial boat-launch fees and bylaw enforcement. He stated: "It's almost like a bully attitude from high school" and "Give us a per-launch fee, or a surcharge on transactions. We're happy to contribute. But the current system doesn't work." The KMTA refused to pay by the city's July 31, 2025 deadline; the city cited potential $10,000/day fines.
