2026 Campaign

Khajavi announced his candidacy on August 27, 2026. His campaign tagline is "Business Minded / Practical Approach."

His platform is organized around four pillars: Safer Neighbourhoods (policing, community safety, revitalization); Responsible Growth (respecting neighbourhood character, keeping development fees reasonable); Infrastructure That Keeps Up (second bridge crossing, Highway 97 overpasses and exit lanes); and Support Locals and Businesses (spending taxpayer dollars responsibly, prioritizing local contractors).

Khajavi has stated: "Kelowna's given me so much to be grateful for. This city's provided me opportunities to build my career and raise my family. I'm running because I want to help ensure the same exists for future generations." He has also said: "Every decision Council makes affects families, neighbourhoods, and local businesses... Kelowna doesn't need more talk, it needs action, execution, and a Council that delivers on its commitments." He has called to "reduce bureaucracy, manage taxpayer dollars responsibly," and "keep taxes low while making sure residents see value."

His campaign outreach includes a weekly "Espresso Yourself: A Coffee Chat With Hamid" series at local coffee shops on Thursday mornings.

He was listed among the 37 confirmed councillor candidates.

In an undated ForChange Kelowna candidate questionnaire, Khajavi added specifics. On community safety, he proposed advocating for fewer wet-housing sites in residential neighbourhoods and reallocating some resources — which he said currently "provide comforts to some transients" — toward additional security and cleaning contractors, potentially supporting increased RCMP presence. On growth, he proposed that the City provide more feedback on building form and character, similar to design review in some larger centres. He also stated that he helped establish the BC Conservative Kelowna-Mission constituency association in 2012 and later served as the party's Okanagan regional director.

At the first Castanet election forum (Revelry Kelowna, September 16, 2026), Khajavi called for closer scrutiny of civil-infrastructure bids, citing roads in the Upper Mission he said were being replaced after roughly eight years and road refinishing in Ellison without upgrades to the sewers below — work he said can carry price tags of $10–12 million (his figures). On crime and safety, he proposed working with Crown prosecutors to attach probation and parole conditions barring repeat offenders from certain areas, and relocating outreach services from the Okanagan Rail Trail.
